Energy

I was recently reading an article about life, Darwinism and that sort of thing, which touched on the scientific theories about life, the universe and everything. At the same time (not unusually for me) I have about 4 or 5 books on the go, one of which is a study on 'chaos', and another is about the meta-physical or spiritual aspects of our lives drawing on Jung's theories.

There is so much written about who we are, what we are, where we came from and where we are going. All the religious texts in the world focus on similar questions to these. Whole professions exist to help us try to understand questions like the 'ultimate question' as Douglas Adams put it in his fantastic Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe, - 'what is the answer to life, the universe and everything?'

In the end we start from nothing, and we go on to being a small pile of minerals which, whilst we are alive, is held together by a lot of water molecules.

Another way to look at it is from the perspective that we are simply pure energy. Everything in life dips energy. Energy never completely dissipates, it is transferred from one place to another. Human beings come into the world as energy and when we leave this world that energy passes into the earth or the atmosphere depending on whether we are buried or cremated .. The energy goes full circle. If we take out the fact that we are all always trying to work out where we a going and what we are doing, you suddenly realize that it doesn't actually matter - we are energy and movers and shakers of energy, applying it where we best see fit to help others and ourselves achieve the things we aspire to achieve.

Many believe that we are one collective energy, all of us connected in some way, and if you pause and think about it, that makes absolute sense.. Our bodies are a vehicle for that energy to work it's magic..

Paused for thought

It's been almost two years since the last post. A lot has happened, so where to start. Reiki is a good one - staying open to all possibilities is a good one too, and a challenging one. It takes a leap of faith and the funny thing is that after the first leap, leaps are always easier.

Control

How often have you heard the words 'control freak'? Quite a lot I'm guessing. I had a meeting today at which the person I was with commented on my tendency to want to control and this got me thinking... In nature, is anything controlled? Does the weather change to suit itself - is it controlled by God or the Universe? Do flowers control their growth? Do animals control their behaviour? We are all keen on achieving peace of mind for ourselves, which in essence could be argued to mean relaxed, at peace, out of control. Feelings of control tighten us, they create seen and unseen restrictions, boundaries. A financial controller's job is to control the purse strings, mission control effectively drive the actions of the crew on the space shuttle, but nowhere in nature do I see or feel control - why is that? Someone once wrote that the best way to obtain power is to give it away, and that principle could apply equally to control - if you have ever suddenly felt 'in t...

Pathways

The other day I found a piece of paper that I'd created with my best friend a few years ago, and it reminded me of how simple things are when we want them to be. We travel along our path, experiencing this and that - hearing and seeing this and that, and along that pathway we make decisions. Those decisions keep us moving, either in the same direction or in another. Like travelling along a road, we sometimes know our way, we recognise the road - it's a well travelled road as they say - we know where we are going because we have been there before. At other times we see signposts and respond to what they are telling us - we react to them and alter our direction based on what they say. At other times, we register signposts to give us confidence that we are on the right track, we experience 'deja vu' or coincidences we just get that intuitive feeling that we are moving in exactly the right direction. I think this simple little topic is going into my book. Have a gre...
